Roman The NFL : Tim Tebow Part 2

If this were anyone but Tim Tebow we would not be having
these long drawn out, worn out dissertations. The media knows
that Tim Tebow is a polarizing and very popular player
that brings big time ratings to television every time his name is mentioned.
It's been pathetic to watch ESPN talk for twenty straight minutes on every program
about the same things over and over. They more than anyone have benefited from Tebow.

First, Tim is a very talented football player who proved his ability to
play the game at the highest level at Florida, credentials are there for everyone to see.
Whether he was drafted to high really has no relevance since it only takes one coach and
one team to draft you. We have seen big risks that paid off, and big busts especially at
the quarterback position throughout the years.

Second, he was asked to run an offense that is not simpatic with the way quarterbacks are asked to play in the
NFL. I think he took less than ten snaps from under center in his entire career at Florida. He has done a great job
working to correct flaws in his mechanics to better adjust to the NFL quarterback game.
But as any quarterback will tell you, that takes a great deal of time to ask your body to learn a different movement
and it become habit, ask Tiger Woods every time he has made a swing change. This requires patience by Tebow, the coaching staff and fans.Unfortunately the media has none of that, what Tebow showed in the last four minutes of the Miami game is the potential he is capable of for sixty minutes once he gains experience and more practice reps, and continued off season individual work. You see, these are things that people who have never played the position do not understand.

Third, although John Elway and John Fox did not draft Tim Tebow, they are smart enough to know that a 11 game
trial period is enough to assess whether he can show enough improvement to warrant building this team around him, or trading him when he has value and drafting another quarterback. They also are well aware that his dynamic personality and playing style makes him beloved by the ticket buying public who makes are  who makes are breaks the bottom line in Denver.

Fourth, there is a double standard going on with other quarterbacks with significant flaws that seem to get a pass as compared to Tebow. Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert had a rough go and has shown a lot of flaws, record 2-5. Andy Dalton in Cincinnati 2-4 and up and down this season. And they have received all the reps, which Tebow had not until a week ago, that is huge. In the preseason Cam Newton ( 2-5) was no better
with his poor footwork and lack of ability in pocket situations to simply follow through, throwing erratically on several occasions, but he looks prettier. Although he still has his moments he has progressed nicely although he does have a lot more talent around him than Tebow in Denver. Let's remember you do need talent
around you to be successful, its nice to have a security blanket like number 89 ( Steve Smith). Time will ultimately tell the tale.

Remember the story on these guys: Bernie Kosar, to slow, and the slowest ugliest delivery we have ever seen. Kerry Collins, he will have to change his delivery, to much of a lag and hesitation to be successful in the NFL. Joe Montana, his arm isn't strong enough. Doug Flutie, way to small to be effective as a NFL quarterback. Warren Moon, his game will never translate south of the border. And closer to home, John Elways first season and a half was ugly. Roger Staubach was unconventional, he languished on the bench because Tom Landry didn't
think his unorthodox style would work. Should I go on ?

Finally, the NFL is about one thing, WINNING. That is all that ultimately matters.  You will see many NFL quarterbacks come and go who can make all the throws and look pretty doing it. But when the game is on the
they are unable to finish when you absolutely have to have it. I could go for days naming those guys. But Tim Tebow has whatever you want to call it: The intangible, a winner, clutch, belief, leadership, the "it factor",
Off the charts confidence ? You cannot teach the effect he has on the guys around him, he makes everyone better. The NFL has seen it time and time again, that ultimately a team that plays together and has great belief can rise up on any Sunday and beat the more talented team. I sure would like to see Tebow with the talent around him on offense like the Panthers,Detroit, or even Buffalo.

So before the world turns off its axis, and the media blows a gasket. Let's do like we have for every number one pick before him. Give Tebow the rest of the season to show a body of work and then make him a bust or to the Hall of Fame assessment ( I think it's somewhere in between). Is that to hard ? Time will tell if he can be a  consistent starter in the league.

But this much is true, the NFL needs good stories and role models like Tim Tebow.  Unlike most, Tim will be successful and influential regardless of his success in the NFL. That's what makes Tim Tebow different and refreshing !

SOLD OUT WITH ROMAN GABRIEL III

TIM TEBOW: IS HE THE REAL THING ?

What is up with all the hoopla surrounding Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow ?
The media is losing it's mind, especially a few at ESPN on the mother ship !
How do you measure wether a quarterback is successful ? Delivery, mechanics, stats, college history ?

Lets be clear, there is only one stat that matters in the NFL for a Quarterback .
Its called winning, if Tebow wins, all the detractors will be silenced. Your right, it is surprising that former NFL players who know this fact are so upset about Tebow.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but lets be fair in how we evaluate.
I don't hear anyone calling for Blaine Gabberts head since he is zero for as a pro. I am not hearing anyone coming after Cam Newton at 1-4, or Andy Dalton for his erratic play as a rookie. The double standard is amazing.

Do any of you remember not to long ago in quarterbacks from the past ? Doug Flutie is too small
to play in the NFL ? Kerry Collins has a weird hitch in his delivery ? Warren Moon doesn't have what it takes to play south of the border of Canada ? Randall Cunningham's throwing motion is way to slow ?
Joe Montana doesn't have a strong enough arm ? Should I continue ?

I called for Tebow to be drafted in the first round while ESPN analysts who shall go un-named said he shouldn't be picked until after the 3rd round.
He is the leading passer in SEC history, including efficiency, touchdowns, etc. His delivery is a work in progress, but he has already worked himself into good enough mechanics to be effective. He needs reps like any other and game experience like any young QB.

Another point is that his coach John Fox is a old time traditionalist who like the conventional QB. In addition, it wasn't his pick or Elways. That is perfectly understandable. But its time to put up or shut up in every way. He will either prove he can play this year or he will be moved. The Broncos are playing the right card here although reluctantly.

Quarterback experts out there, can we allow Tim to play the next eleven games and then make our judgements ? Or dare I say, is this more than just about football ? Or maybe what he stands for off the field (some in the media) ? I think he's the next Kurt Warner in terms of his impact on and off the field in a league that needs more people the average man or women can get behind. So before we cut him from football, or anoint him with a bust in Canton, lets sit back and see what he can do. We will find out soon enough starting in Miami, a very comfortable place for Tebow ! Either way it will be entertaining. I just
became interested in the Broncos !
